Anchor chain

Maxplus manufactures stud link and open link anchor chain for ship anchoring, mooring, and offshore work. Studless chain is electric flash butt welded. For stud-link anchor chain, the stud is inserted after the link weld is complete. On Grade 3 chain, the stud is then secured by welding. Chain is then heat-treated and proof-tested. Geometry follows ISO 1704:2022 shapes, proportions, and tolerances in the U1, U2, and U3 grades (CM370 / CM490 / CM690) that classification societies recognize.

Standards and selection

Choose stud link or open link geometry, then grade (U1, U2, or U3), diameter, and the joining accessories needed for a complete cable.

ISO 1704:2022: ISO 1704:2022 governs the geometry and tolerances of stud-link anchor chain.
U1 / U2 / U3: Strength grades U1, U2, and U3 with rising minimum breaking load. Catalogue tables list Grade 2 and Grade 3 proof and breaking loads for stud link.
Steel grades: Steel grades CM370, CM490, and CM690. Diameters from roughly 12.5 mm upward in the detailed stud-link table.
Class societies: Certifiable to ABS, BV, DNV, LR, RINA, NK, KR, RS, and CCS. Named society certificates are available on order.
