Underfloor wheel lathe

Underfloor wheel lathe

The underfloor wheel lathes are of the kind, state-of-the-art machine designed for reprofiling (turning) railway or tram wheels mounted on the axels and the corresponding grease boxes. The mechanism of the underfloor wheel lathe ensures that the wheels of the train or tram can be turned without the need to remove the wheels from the axels. At MaxPlus Machinery, we have designed and manufactured a wide range of underfloor wheel lathes for the use. Our design and development of the machinery are based on the railway vehicles and trains and the maximum weight it will have per axel. At MaxPlus Machinery, we offer all lathe models that are configurable for different track gauges and various tread profiles. We customize it as per the requirement of the customers.

What We Offer

We offer automated models for the underfloor wheel lathe. The feature allows the operator to use the complete composition of the machine without intervening with the movement of the wheel or the train. The automated tasks that the machine performs are:
  • The motion composition is automated
  • Before using the lathe, there is a measurement done for the wheel profile
  • There is a pre-defined template that is used for turning the wheel of the train
  • It is used for light rail vehicles like tramways where the load on the axel is not over 10,000 daN.
  • The lathes can machine individual bogies and wheelsets dismantled from the vehicle.
  • It also comes with coupled wheelsets and brake disks for active surfaces and wheelsets for vehicles that do not have any bogies.

Where Are Our Wheel Lathe Used?

Our underfloor wheel lathes offer a lot of variations and flexibilities to the user. This allows them to adapt different orientations to ensure the final user has the best satisfaction. The lathe's simple design, ease of service, and flexibility of functioning make it a perfect fit for users across a wide range of railway products and industries. Keeping all these in mind, we have developed the lathe into three different kinds of centering they are:
  • In centers, this is done to access the holes at the center of the axle for tinner axle box support
  • Supporting the outer of inner axel box
  • Support for the outer axle box
  • The simple design is done to eliminate the requirement of the use of any build- up chains of kinematics and to improve the driving mechanism
